Hope is 23 years old and loves embroidering. Hope has a visual impairment, which can make embroidery extremely difficult for her. So Hope applied to our Transition Fund to help progress her embroidery skills and get closer to achieving her goals of making her own clothes.

This year’s theme for the International Day of People with Disabilities is ‘Not all Disabilities are Visible’. We asked Hope to share how she feels about her visual impairment, which is not visible, and the barriers she faces on a daily basis. She said:

“Sometimes it upsets me, because I get frustrated that it takes me twice as long to do things, but the majority of the time I’ve kind of learned to accept it, because it’s what makes me, me!”
