Celebrating 10 years of Independent Living - Northern Ireland

At ILF Scotland we are very proud of the contribution we have made to independent living for disabled people across Scotland and Northern Ireland. We would be delighted if you would join us to celebrate this contribution and the difference it has made to the lives of so many disabled people.

The celebration event will take place in the Great Hall of the Northern Ireland Assembly Building, Parliament Buildings, Ballymiscaw, Stormont, Belfast

BT4 3XX on 3 July from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Registration, tea/coffee and a buffet will be available from 6.30pm. We will cover the cost of reasonable travel expenses and PA support. Please keep your receipts for travel expenses and speak to us on the evening about how to be reimbursed for these costs.

Throughout the event you will have the opportunity to hear from our esteemed speakers who will be delivering presentations on a range of independent living related topics. Speakers will include Mr. Mike Nesbitt, Minister of Health Northern Ireland, alongside disabled people who benefit from the fund and representatives from disabled people’s organisations.

Venue, travel, and accessibility information

  • The venue is located on the east side of Belfast, on the Upper Newtownards Road (A20) approximately five miles from the city centre
  • Google Maps link - stormont - Google Maps
  • Disabled access is located via ramps at the front, with lift access at the east and west entrances
  • Changing places facility is available on the ground floor
  • A hearing loop will be in use
  • BSL and ISL interpreters will be signing throughout the event
  • A security check will be carried out on arrival at the entrance gates, and on arrival at the building.
  • Map is enclosed

We will be taking photographs and videography throughout the evening that we will use to promote independent living and the work of ILF Scotland via our website and social media channels. If you, or those attending with you, would prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please let us know.

Disabled people remain at the heart of everything we do and this involvement is vital to the continuing success of ILF. It would therefore be our privilege to share this occasion with recipients of ILF and our other key stakeholders.
