Craig from Fife, who has autism, applied to the Transition Fund to help him achieve his lifelong goal of having a printed and published version of a comic book, which he has been working on since 2015.
Last year, Craig started a college course in media design, however, his anxiety made it difficult for him to attend group work sessions and eventually he had to drop out of the course completely. Craig then stumbled upon a comic book enthusiasts group, Speechbubble Comic Club, and has enjoyed attending their group sessions and meeting likeminded people.
Attending the group has given Craig the confidence to attend Comic Con and apply to our Transition Fund to fund design software to help Craig illustrate his comic, as well as a run of copies of his comic, Space Pirate Captain MacTaggart, which he can sell for a small profit at Comic Cons in the future.
