How ILF Scotland's Transition Fund is empowering Scotland’s young disabled people
Over the last seven years, ILF Scotland’s Transition Fund has become a lifeline for young disabled people in Scotland. Designed to support individuals aged 16 to 25, the fund has awarded over £20 million pounds, helping thousands of young people navigate the critical transition from childhood to adulthood.
Since its inception in December 2017, the Transition Fund has been a key resource in fostering independence and encouraging community engagement among young disabled people. Whether it’s pursuing new hobbies, enhancing social skills, or building confidence to enter the workforce, the fund has opened doors to experiences that might otherwise have been out of reach for many young people.
Peter Scott OBE, CEO of ILF Scotland, said: "Celebrating seven years of the Transition Fund is a proud moment for us. It has positively changed the lives of over 10,400 young disabled people across Scotland.
“Our funding offers meaningful support, building independence and community involvement, and encouraging recipients to embrace new experiences. We are delighted to have reached this amazing £20 million pound milestone."
The Transition Fund is open to young disabled people in Scotland aged 16 to 25 who have a disability as defined by the Equalities Scotland Act. This includes individuals with a wide range of conditions and impairments.
