Scotland’s only national conference dedicated to Self-Directed Support will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on Thursday 28 March.
The SDS National Voice 2024 event will include presentations from key speakers, a discussion panel featuring experts from across the sector and in-person and online workshops.
This year’s theme of ‘A decade of learning’ reflects the ten years since the law enshrining the right to Self Directed Support came into effect in April 2014.
The event is designed to give attendees including supported people, unpaid carers, Self Directed Support Scotland (SDSS) members, partner organisations, local authority and government colleagues the chance to learn, share ideas and make connections.
There is also the option to view live-streamed sessions and take part in online workshops.
The conference will begin with a series of presentations:
• A keynote address and Q&A from the Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Maree Todd MSP
• The relaunch of the Personal Assistant Network Scotland to showcase their new offer as a membership organisation
• Peter Scott, Chief Executive Officer of ILF Scotland, will present on the re-opening of the Independent Living Fund and the impact it has on enabling independent living in Scotland
• Self Directed Support Scotland (SDSS) will share findings from their ongoing research into Independent SDS Support services in Scotland
The afternoon will feature a range of workshops on emerging issues around self-directed support.
The conference takes place on Thursday 28 March from 9am until 4pm.
Ticket options range in price from £15 for SDSS members to attend online, up to £60 for non-SDSS members to attend in person.
You can book your ticket via Eventbrite.
If you need support to register, please contact info@sdsscotland.org.uk or call 0131 475 2623.
