Wage boost for adult social care workers

Post Date: 31 March 2022

The Scottish Government has announced an increase to the minimum rate of pay for adult social care workers from £10.02 to £10.50 per hour from April 1, 2022. This is an increase of 4.8 per cent.

ILF Scotland is increasing its financial support to disabled people who employ Personal Assistants, allowing them to pass on the wage increase to their staff.

  • Grant recipients are being advised to pay their personal assistants at least £10.50 for every hour they work, including overnight hours of support. People cannot use this increase for any other purpose.
  • ILF Scotland will apply this increase automatically. (Grant recipients do not have to contact ILF Scotland.) This increase will not affect recipients’ care and support arrangements.
  • Grant recipients who use a payroll agency must contact them to tell them to pay Personal Assistants the increased rate of pay from April 1, 2022.
  • People using care providers to provide support may receive letters from their provider telling them about an increase in the hourly rates. Anyone receiving this type of letter should post or email a copy of it to ILF Scotland. The organisation will consider it on an individual case-by-case basis.

Letters are being sent out to grant recipients outlining their new payment details. Anyone with queries can contact ILF Scotland on 0300 200 2022 or email: enquiries@ilf.scot
