ILF Scotland wins highly renowned UK-wide Government Finance Award!

Post Date: 3 March 2017

Last week, ILF Scotland won ‘Finance Team of the Year’ at the UK Government Finance and Internal Audit Awards 2017! The awards were part of the wider UK Government Finance and Internal Audit Event, which took place in Birmingham on the 21st February.

Despite only being fully operational for just over 18 months, the organisation was shortlisted in the ‘Finance Team of the Year’ category for its work in establishing an efficient, successful finance function in a timely manner, guaranteeing accurate payments to recipients with no errors. This has ensured the disabled people the organisation supports can focus on maximising their funding to enable them to live independently.

Peter Scott, CEO of ILF Scotland, remarked,

“We are absolutely delighted to receive this accolade and UK Government award. Huge congratulations and thanks to the whole staff team and all of those in the Scottish Government who helped with the establishment of the organisation. To date, in ILF Scotland’s 20 months of operation, staff have made 70,000 timely and accurate payments of £87 million to recipients.

This funding has such a positive impact on the lives of the disabled people we support, enabling them to have choice and control over how and when they are supported in all aspects of their daily lives and facilitates real participation and inclusion for individuals within their local communities. I am incredibly proud of the team and this award is recognition of all their hard work”.

This award is the second that the organisation has won in the last three months, following receipt of the ‘Community Engagement Award’ in December at the Scottish Public Services Awards. ILF Scotland has also been shortlisted for the award of ‘Best Public Sector Employer’ at next week’s Family Friendly Working Scotland’s ‘Scottish Top Employers for Working Families Awards’.

ILF Scotland staff recognise that without the recipients the organisation supports they wouldn’t be able to undertake the work that they do and have been publically acknowledged for, so a huge thank you goes out to all of them.
