ILF Scotland has won the ‘Finance Team of the Year’ Award at the UK Public Finance Innovation Awards 2018! The awards took place in London on the 25th April.

In spite of facing tough competition from some highly respected organisations, such as Public Health England and the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, this win is an outstanding achievement for an organisation that is, in many ways, still in its infancy, having only been fully operational for just under 3 years.

The judges stated, “This finance team is living out the values of the organisation. Having set up a new finance system from scratch, the team has embraced cloud-based technology and innovative solution design to improve payment processes and ensure zero payment errors since 2015. This is a great example of how finance innovation and team commitment can make a positive impact on people’s lives.”

Peter Scott, CEO of ILF Scotland, remarked,

“We are absolutely delighted to receive this accolade and national award. Huge congratulations and thanks to the whole staff team and all of those in the Scottish Government who helped with the establishment of the organisation. To date, the ILF Scotland’s Finance Team have made over 116,000 timely and accurate payments of just over £147 million to recipients.

This funding has such a positive impact on the lives of the disabled people we support, enabling them to have choice and control over how and when they are supported in all aspects of their daily lives. It facilitates real participation and inclusion for individuals within their local communities. I am incredibly proud of the team, and this award is recognition of all their hard work”.

This award is now the fifth the organisation has won in the last 18 months, following receipt of its first – the ‘Community Engagement Award’ in December 2016 at the Scottish Public Services Awards.
