Updated COVID Guidance - Facemasks

Post Date: 17 May 2023

Scotland

The Scottish Government have recently updated their COVID guidance regarding the use of facemasks in health and social care settings in Scotland.

People in health and social care settings will no longer be advised to wear facemasks from Tuesday (16 May).

The return to pre-pandemic guidance means that mask use will be based on clinical need based on infection prevention and control advice, meaning  staff, patients, service users and visitors will not be routinely asked to wear facemasks in health and social care settings.

You can read the full updated facemask guidance at the Scottish Government website.

Colleagues will remain vigilant and continue to ask recipients and Award Managers their preference for wearing masks before meeting with them.

Northern Ireland

The use of face coverings is still strongly recommended in all indoor settings accessible to the public across Northern Ireland. Read the full guidance at NI Direct: Coronavirus (COVID-19): face coverings guidance
