The Coming Home Fund opened to applications on Monday 3 August 2026.

Coming Home is a national Scottish Government and COSLA programme helping people who have learning disabilities and complex support needs to live in their communities with the right support. The programme also helps people to remain in the community where their current support is at risk of breaking down.

The Scottish Government and COSLAs Coming Home Action Plan, updated in March 2026, aims to support people with learning disabilities and complex support needs to:

  • move from hospitals or inappropriate out of area placements back to their communities close to family and friends
  • remain in their communities where their current support is at risk of breaking down

Engagement Events

We held two Coming Home drop-in Engagement Events to find out your views on what you would like to happen - one aimed at professionals who work with people with learning disabilities and complex support needs, and one aimed at people with learning disabilities and complex support needs, their families and carers.

Thank you to everyone who attended these events and shared their stories and experiences.
