Your local authority will submit an application online to ILF Scotland. When we receive this, we will check that it has all of the information we need and that it meets the access principles for the re-opened Fund.

If we need more information, we will get in touch with your local authority.

If your application does not meet the access principles for the re-opened fund then we will write to you to advise you of this.

If the application contains all of the necessary information, and it meets the access principles then we will arrange a visit.

Prior to the visit

The Specialist Caseworker team will send you a letter to advise you of your visit and that an ILF Scotland Assessor will contact you directly to organise a date and time for your visit. Your Social Care Worker will be invited to attend and you can ask someone to attend with you, such as a family member or a friend, if you would like.

When the Assessor contacts you they will discuss what will happen at the visit and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the visit at this point so please don’t hesitate to ask. You can also call the ILF Scotland office during our opening hours and discuss any queries with a Specialist Caseworker.

During the visit

When the ILF Scotland Assessor comes to visit, they will discuss with you the application submitted by your Social Care Worker and what you plan to use the funds for. This will inform their report on whether or not to recommend funding. The Assessor can also answer any questions or queries that you may have but will not be able to give you a decision about your application.

After the visit

When the ILF Scotland Assessor has completed your first visit, they will submit their visit report to the Specialist Caseworker team, who will use this information to decide whether to generate an offer for you. You will be sent a letter to advise your of the offer along with an Agreement Form which you, or the person who will manage your funding (called an Award Manager) on your behalf, must complete and return to us. We can not make payments to you until we have received this completed form. You will also receive a copy of our Your Responsibilities Guide

If you would like to see a copy of the final report, please ask the Assessor or the Specialist Caseworker and we will arrange to send this to you, or your Award Manager, if someone will be managing your award on your behalf.
