Care Experienced Week: Guaranteed Interview Scheme

Post Date: 29 October 2025
A green header and footer surround a picture of two women. We’re looking over the shoulder of the older one as they both sit as a table in an office. The younger lady writes something in her notebook. Text reads Care Experienced Week 2025. The independent Living Fund ILF logo sits at the bottom left while the Care Experienced Week 2025 circle in team with hashtag CEW25 sits in the bottom right.

As part of our ongoing commitment to Corporate Parenting, we actively encourage applications from care experienced individuals.

A child or young person is care experienced if they are living, or have lived, in care at any stage of their life, including in a residential home or other secure care, in the family home with a supervision order, or in foster care, or kinship care with family, friends or relatives. Children adopted but previously living in care are included as care experienced.

If you apply for a job with ILF Scotland and declare as part of your application that you are care experienced, and if you meet the minimum criteria for a role, as defined by us as the employer, you will be offered an interview. We will also offer reasonable adjustments to support you during the recruitment process, such as sharing interview questions in advance, offering flexible interview formats, or helping with travel arrangements.

Everyone involved in the recruitment process is trained to understand and support our commitment to care experienced individuals, both during hiring and in the workplace.

Jill Fotheringham, Policy Lead, said: “We work continuously to better target our services to care experienced young people. However, we’re also very aware that the challenges don’t end once someone becomes an adult. Providing this Guaranteed Interview Scheme for those who are Care Experienced shows our understanding of the needs of Care Experienced people as well as our commitment to them.”
