Joint Event Recap: The Purpose of Life is a Life of Purpose

Post Date: 10 April 2024

On Thursday 28 March 2024, ILF Scotland’s Advisory and Stakeholder Groups in Scotland and Northern Ireland held a Parliamentary Reception joint event in the Garden Lobby of the Scottish Parliament.

The event included moving stories from current and potential Recipients on the value of the Independent Living Fund. We also learnt how the Fund can help disabled people find a life of purpose and fulfilment. The results of recent independent research on the social value the Fund brings to society as a whole was presented by Finbarr Fitzpatrick of Business Improvement Solutions.

The event was hosted and sponsored by Dame Jackie Baillie MSP who introduced speeches from Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Robin Swann MLA, Northern Ireland’s Minister of Health, Anne-Marie Monaghan, Chairperson of the Board of the Independent Living Fund Scotland, and Peter Scott OBE, Chief Executive of the Independent Living Fund Scotland.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the event.
