COVID-19: Updated guidance on testing and face masks

Post Date: 9 May 2022

The Scottish Government published updated guidance on April 22, 2022, on the use of face masks.

This guidance confirms that all staff providing direct care, including Personal Assistants, should wear a Fluid Resistant Surgical Mask (FRSM), as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), throughout their shift.

The Scottish Government also updated its guidance on weekly COVID-19 testing, effective from 18 April 2022.

LATERAL FLOW TESTS

This guidance confirms that Personal Assistants should continue to take twice weekly Lateral Flow Tests (LFTs).

Personal Assistants should continue to collect their LFT kits from their local PPE hubs. Call the NHS National Services Scotland Social Care PPE Support Centre on 0300 303 3020 and they will point you towards your local Hub.

If your Personal Assistant needs a letter to confirm their Social Care workforce status, you can download this here.
