Scottish Social Care Wage Update 2023

Post Date: 31 March 2023

The Scottish Government has announced an increase to the minimum rate of pay for Adult Social Care workers from £10.50 to £10.90 per hour from 1 April 2023. This is an increase of 3.8%.

Recipients who employ Personal Assistants

For all recipients who employ Personal Assistants, ILF Scotland will increase the hourly rate we pay in their awards by 3.8%.

This will allow recipients to increase Personal Assistants’ hourly rate of pay to a minimum of £10.90 per hour from 1 April 2023 for every hour they work, including overnight hours of support.

This increase must be passed on to staff and should not be used for any other purpose.

Recipient who use a payroll agency

Recipients must contact their Payroll Agency to tell them to pay your Personal Assistants the increased rate of pay from 1 April 2023.

If you purchase support from a care provider organisation

For recipients who receive support from a care provider, they may, in due course, advise in writing of an increase to the hourly rate they charge to enable them to pay their staff this increased rate of pay.

The provider should notify recipients of this in writing and then recipients should post or email a copy to ILF Scotland using the contact details below.

We will consider it on an individual case by case basis.

New ILF Scotland payment

We will apply this increase automatically so recipients do not have to contact us.

If recipients do not wish to receive this increase, please let us know as soon as possible and we will continue to pay the existing award.

This increase will not affect recipients' current care and support arrangements.

We require recipients to keep financial records of all payments as normal.

If recipients have any questions regarding this letter, or if any circumstances have changed, please contact our operations team on 0300 200 2022 or by emailing enquiries@ilf.scot.
