Coming Home funding can be used in a variety of ways to support independent living including:
- ongoing and indefinite monthly awards to meet the cost of care and support arrangements
- temporary monthly awards to meet care and support and set-up costs including transitional and other short-term costs related to enabling someone to move from hospital or inappropriate out of area placement
- one-off grant payments to meet up-front costs to address practical barriers to discharge from hospital or inappropriate out of area placement
- additional support to enable individuals to remain in or to move to alternative, suitable accommodation in their community, which could include funding the cost of, for example, adaptations, furnishings, equipment, training related costs
Limits on using the funding
ILF Scotland Coming Home funding is designed to complement, not replace, support provided by statutory bodies such as local authorities and HSCPs. We will not therefore normally fund the cost of support or services that are the responsibility of another public body such as:
- medical or nursing care
- residential care costs
- everyday living costs such as food or clothing
- large-scale capital investment such as buildings or developments
